How to Remove a Tick

Use clean, fine-tipped tweezers.

Grasp the tick as close to the skin's surface as possible.

Pull upward with steady, even pressure.

Thoroughly clean the bite area and your hands.

If a fragment of the mouth parts is left behind, leave it alone to heal. This is not a risk for disease transmission. Once the tick is removed, do not crush it with your fingers. Dispose of a live tick by placing it in a sealed container in the garbage.
