Be Prepared: Now and Year Round!—Part 4

05 March 2024

Being prepared and limiting the effects of an emergency allows for an easier recovery and supports resilience. This week the Putnam County Department of Health shares a fourth tip for emergency preparedness—financial prep and first aid.

Tip Four: Strengthen your financial fitness before and after a disaster. When the immediate danger of an emergency situation or disaster passes, and post-event stress sets in, having financial records and contact information easily available helps to ease the recovery process. If FEMA has declared a Federal disaster, financial assistance may be available. For a complete guide on financial preparedness, FEMA has created a 40-page guide on Emergency Financial First Aid Kit, they call the “EFFAK.” For more info on staying financially safe and to review the EFFAK, visit: https://www.ready.gov/financial-preparedness
