Odell Honors WWII Veterans in Mahopac
Photo caption: Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell spent December 7 visiting with various veterans’ organizations as the country honored its World War II veterans on the 72nd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor by members of the Naval Air Force of the Empire of Japan. With the County Executive at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5491 in Mahopac are three WWII veterans. From left to right are Ray Matthews, who served in the U. S. Navy, Bob Vangor, a member of the U.S. Army Signal Corps and father of Carmel Historian Brian Vangor, County Executive Odell, and Jim Dipelesi who also served in the U.S. Navy and is currently a member of the local flotilla of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
