Join the Philipstown Garden Club and the Putnam Highlands Audubon Society as they present “Audubon Report – Survival by Degrees” from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9 at the Desmond Fish Public Library in Garrison. The interactive presentation will focus on how changes to the environment and climate are reflected in the current bird populations and will highlight the plight of birds affected by global climate change and how we can help.
Hannah Waters, senior associate editor for climate change at the Audubon, will share findings of the 2019 report, “Survival by Degrees: 389 Species on the Brink.” Kyle Bardwell will lead the second part of the interactive workshop using computers. There are a few laptops available at the library so participants may bring their own or just come and listen. Bardwell will help participants learn how to identify birds in their zip codes that are at risk, advocate for birds and design garden habitats for birds using native plants. Bardwell is a board member of the Putnam Highlands Audubon Society as well as a published author and recognized photographer.
