CARMEL, NEW YORK – April 25, 2018: Putnam County District Attorney Robert V. Tendy announced today that 29 year old Connecticut resident Anthony Magliocco was sentenced today to 14 years state prison for the crime of Burglary in the First Degree and 1 1/3 – 4 years for the crime of Bail Jumping in the Second Degree. The sentences are to be served consecutively with 5 years post release supervision. The sentence comes after a guilty verdict at trial this past March.

On August 28, 2014 the defendant arrived unannounced at the victim’s home in the Town Of Southeast, entered without warning, and immediately attacked his victim, declaring that he had come to kill her. During the attack the defendant forcefully prevented a witness from calling 911 but fled the scene once the victim herself was able to dial 911. State Police responded to the scene and immediately reached out to the Newtown Connecticut Police for assistance in apprehending the defendant.

During the proceedings the defendant failed to appear in Court and instead boarded a flight from JFK airport and fled to Russia. He was apprehended on an arrest warrant almost one year later when he returned from Russia to Los Angeles.

The case was prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Chana Krauss. Involved law enforcement agencies were the New York State Police, Newtown Police, FBI, and members from the US Customs and Border Protection.
