Air Quality Health Advisory in Effect in Putnam County

07 June 2023

Updated June 8

The Air Quality Health Advisory continues through today, June 8.

Reduce your exposure by staying indoors as much as possible. If you are working outdoors, or are sensitive to the pollution, consider wearing a well-fitting respirator mask (KN95) to protect your lung health while outside. People with respiratory or heart ailments, small children, pregnant people, and older adults are at higher risk and should consult their medical provider if experiencing health effects from the air quality.

June 7

An air quality health advisory is still in effect for the Lower Hudson Valley today, June 7. Reduce your exposure to air pollution by avoiding strenuous outdoor activities, keeping outdoor activities short or moving them inside. If spending time outdoors today, members of sensitive groups may experience short-term health effects such as eye, nose, and throat irritation, coughing, sneezing, runny nose, or shortness of breath. Moving indoors may reduce exposure to pollutants.
