Smoking Cessation Classes Start February 12 at Health Department

The Putnam County Department of Health will be offering Freedom from Smoking, an evidence-based smoking cessation program, to individuals who live or work in Putnam County. Classes will be held in person on Mondays from 6 to 7:30 p.m., beginning February 12 through March 25, with an extra class on Wednesday, March 6. Please note class will meet on Tuesday, February 20 due to Monday, February 19 being a holiday.  The program will be at no cost to the participants, and they will be supplied with free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) as long as the supply lasts. Pre-registration is required:

Hundreds of thousands of people have become smoke-free through a Freedom From Smoking® Group Clinic which offers a structured, systematic approach to quitting smoking. Overseen by a certified facilitator, you will learn:

  • How to know if you’re really ready to quit
  • Medications that can increase your success
  • Lifestyle changes to make quitting easier
  • How to prepare for your quit day
  • Coping strategies for managing stress & avoiding weight gain
  • How to stay smokefree for good

  • Tuesday February 20, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
  • Monday February 26, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
  • Monday March 4, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
  • Wednesday March 6, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
  • Monday March 11 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
  • Monday March 18, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
  • Monday March 25, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
