Title: Assistant District Attorney – Putnam County, N.Y.

The Putnam County District Attorney’s Office has an immediate opening for a full time Assistant District Attorney. The ideal candidate should have 2+ years of experience handling criminal prosecutions or criminal defense. Exceptional recent Law School graduates who have passed the bar examination may be considered for the position and must supply their Law School and College Transcripts for consideration.

Duties and responsibilities will include, depending on the applicant’s experience, prosecuting felony or misdemeanor cases, from preliminary proceedings, discovery practice, motion practice, grand jury presentations, pretrial hearings, through trial and sentencing. Candidates must possess good knowledge of criminal law and court procedures; ability to perform legal research and prepare written documents (e.g., motions and briefs); ability to express arguments of the law by written and spoken word; ability to deal effectively with people.  Residency will need to be established in the 9^th Judicial District. All applicants should include a writing sample(s) with their resume. 

Qualifications: Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing or have passed the bar examination and awaiting admission to the bar.
