Coast Guard Auxiliary
RSVP Volunteers trained by the United States
Coast Guard Auxiliary will be part of the Carmel Police team
during the summer recreational activities on Lake Mahopac. The
volunteers also patrol the Hudson River. The volunteers help in
boat safety and boat safety checks for the public. Volunteers
also teach the boat safety seminars to fourth and fifth graders
in safety, navigation rules, boat handling, piloting engines,
lines and knots and radio.
After the attacks on September 11th, cities
throughout the nation were asked "what can we do?" Five RSVP
volunteers under the operation of Indian Point Nuclear Power
Plant rose to the challenge of providing high profile security
in the time following the attack. These volunteers assisted the
New York Naval Militia.
