PUTNAM DA ANNOUNCES CONVICTION FOR ASSAULT AND ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD

CARMEL, NEW YORK – February 1, 2018: District Attorney Robert Tendy
announced today the conviction after a trial by jury of Anthony J. Scarfone
for Assault in the Third Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

On August 15, 2016 Scarfone attacked his girlfriend in their mutual residence
in the presence of their 15 month old child.

The victim suffered bruising to her neck as well as shoulder and cervical
strains. The child was not physically harmed. DA Tendy stated, “I want to
sincerely thank this woman for having the courage to come forward and to
stay the course despite numerous delays during the pendency of this case.
We will not tolerate domestic violence in our community and we encourage
everyone to speak up about it. No one should be a victim of domestic
violence, and we will do all we can to prevent it or hold accountable those
who commit it.”

The jury of three men and three women deliberated for three hours before
reaching a verdict. The case was tried in The Town of Putnam Valley Justice
Court by Assistant District Attorney Patricia Rau and assisted by Assistant
District Attorney Melissa Lynch. Sentencing by Judge Louis DiCarlo is
scheduled for April 5 in Putnam Valley Justice Court.
