Putnam County Officials announce that the Putnam Valley Senior Center, which is currently used as a comfort station, will once again transition to a shelter from 8:00 p.m. through 8:00 a.m. The Senior Center is located at 117 Town Park Lane off of Oscawana Lake Road and the telephone number is (845) 808-1730 or (845) 808-4000.
The shelter is available for those persons who are still without power and will begin at 8:00 p.m.
Putnam County Officials ask that only those individuals in real need of shelter utilize this service as space is limited. The shelter will provide a place to sleep which includes bedding. No shower facilities are available at Putnam Valley Senior Center.
Again, Putnam Valley Senior Center will revert to a comfort station beginning at 8:00 a.m. No food will be provided during comfort station hours.
Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell is opening this service to provide for the challenges that are being faced by many families in our community. This shelter opening will be for a limited period based on the needs of the community while Putnam County continues to experience power outages.
