It is Putnam County Personnel Department’s responsibility to ensure Putnam County taxpayers of a public workforce qualified for their jobs pursuant to the principles of selection according to merit and fitness as set forth in Article 5, §6 of the New York State Constitution.

DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF
The Office of IT/GIS of Putnam County, NY is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Deputy Director. The Office of IT/GIS provides all levels of IT support and maintenance to all departments operating within the County. The Office also provides services for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for the County, Towns and Villages within the County, as well as requests to the general public. The ability to oversee a staff of technical and clerical employees as well as management of over 30 servers including exchange, SQL & securities is a must. In addition, the technical oversight of our VoIP phone system, radio communications and alarm network is also anticipated.
This is a tested position and requires the successful candidate to have a minimum of two years in a supervisory position. In addition to holding a combination of education and experience as follows:
a) Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field and three years of experience where the primary function was server administration including server administration, including but not limited to installation, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting. Experience with Windows Server 2008 and 2012, SQL, SharePoint administration, Active Directory, Anti-Virus and MicroSoft Exchange; or
b) Associate’s Degree and five years of experience as described above; or
c) Graduation from High School or possession of a comparable diploma and 7 years of experience as described above.
Salary Range: $55,000 – 65,000

The incumbent of this position acts as Confidential Aide to the County Executive. Duties also include responding to constituent communications, researching complaints/concerns, including investigation and resolution of constituent/client complaints and disputes regarding County departments and services. Transports and provides personal security for the County Executive.
Minimum qualifications: Graduation from High School or possession of a comparable diploma and at least ten (10) years of police investigation work that involved significant, daily public contact and interaction.
