What does “trans fat free” on
the label mean?
Products with no more than 0.5 grams of trans fat per
serving may be labeled “trans fat free.”
Is all fat “bad”?
No. Fat is a major source of energy for the body,
and aids in the absorption of some vitamins. When
consumed in moderation, fat is important for good
health. Unsaturated fats (monounsaturated and
polyunsaturated) provide benefits without raising LDL
levels. Reading food labels will help consumers
make more healthful food choices.
