Dan Birmingham was elected to represent the people in the Seventh District of the Putnam County Legislature on November 4, 2003.

The Seventh District includes the eastern portion of the Town of Carmel and the Hamlet of Mahopac, the Village of Brewster and the southwestern portion of the Town of Southeast.

Dan was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved with his family to Mahopac when he was four years old. He attended Mahopac public schools,

John F. Kennedy Catholic High School,and he received both his Bachelors and Law degrees from The Catholic University of America, in Washington D.C.

Dan started his service in local government as a lifeguard at our town beaches during his high school and college years. He started his County service as a college intern in the County Executive's Office. Thereafter he rose through the county government ranks and was eventually appointed to the County's highest appointed office, Deputy County Executive, in 1995 -- serving as the youngest person to hold that position in New York.

Dan was elected as a Village Trustee in the Village of Brewster in 2001, where he focused on the construction of the Village's new sanitary sewer system, implementing policies which improved the Village's finances and drafting local laws to enhance the quality of life for Brewster's residents.
