Calling All Artists!
With the leadership of Putnam County
Executive Bob Bondi and the Putnam County Legislature, we are
pleased to offer artists a way to contribute to public
beautification and litter reduction. Other community-conscious
residents take part in the free Adopt-a-Highway program, the
Take-a-Bag-for-a-Walk initiative, the Litter-Free School Campus
Agreement and various bike-trail cleanups.
Keep Putnam Beautiful is recruiting and
commissioning Putnam County artists to paint beautiful trash
cans (steel barrels measuring 3 ft high and 2 ft in diameter) to
be installed in front of area businesses and shopping areas. We
will deliver blank/empty cans & lids and retrieve finished
projects. Artists are responsible for designing, painting and
applying a protecting finish. We will provide suggestions on
how-to from other artists who now have their work in public
areas within Putnam County.
Funding: Thanks to donations from area
businesses, Keep Putnam Beautiful will supply an empty
55-gallon drum & lid with ash receptacle and award a $150
honoraria to each selected artist after their work is
completed.
Qualification: To qualify, residents of
Putnam County are invited to submit sketches of designs via
email to:
walt.thompson@putnamcountyny.com or mail to Keep Putnam
Beautiful, 40 Gleneida Ave., Carmel, NY 10512. Cell:
914-671-3903. The Putnam Arts Council, sponsors and others will
review the sketches.
Designs: Sometimes design themes are
requested…sometimes not. Please contact us before you begin your
sketches.
