Letter from the Commissioner
We
have a treasure here in Putnam. We have magnificent views of the
Hudson River. We have farm land and preserved spaces. We have
history and beauty matched in few places. One third of our
county is New York State parkland, and 70% is part of the New
York City watershed. The health of this land is in our hands, to
be cared for so that the next generations will be able to enjoy
the same beauty.
All of us, schools, businesses, individuals, and government
agencies, must now make conscious efforts to become aware of the
impact our actions have on both our community and the world at
large, and begin to make changes in our behavior to help
preserve what we have come here to enjoy.
This website contains news and information
to help with this effort.
