News & Press Release

Due to the continued impact of the current winter storm, all non-essential Putnam County Offices will be closed today, 2/13/24

13 February 2024

County Executive Kevin Byrne met with County officials early this morning to discuss the current storm and the safety of our residents and employees.

At this time it was decided to close all non-essential Putnam County offices for the day. This includes our Public Transportation System.

The continued accumulation of heavy/wet snow has made the roads treacherous and travel difficult.  With the forecast calling for snow until late this afternoon, the county is closing in an effort to help keep traffic at a minimum and allow our highway crews and emergency workers to continue to do their jobs effectively.

All Putnam County offices including the Public Transportation System expect to be back in operations on Wednesday, 2/14/2024.

If you must travel please drive cautiously and give yourself plenty of time.

Welcome Message

“Remember that Putnam County is home. Regardless of what may make us different as individuals, it is our respect for each-other as neighbors, our desire to step up and serve, to lend a hand, and leave this beautiful county better off than we found it. That is what makes this place so special. It is with that in mind that we as a county government are here to serve, and will always serve, with a desire to do better.” - Kevin M. Byrne | Putnam County Executive
