LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Return the completed, signed and notarized
application along with the following:

Insurance (see Putnam County Insurance
Requirements).

License and Permit Bond in the amount of
$25,000.00 naming the County of Putnam as Obligee; one-year
term (original only-copy will not be accepted).

A check in the appropriate amount made payable to
the Putnam County Commissioner of Finance (see Fee
Schedule).

If licensed in any other jurisdiction, provide a
certified copy of a valid electrical license if you would
like to obtain a reciprocal license.

A photocopy of one (1) form of valid photo ID
issued by a governmental agency (e.g., driver’s license).

Child Support Certifications - Notarized

PLEASE NOTE: ONE VEHICLE
DECAL WILL BE ISSUED WITH EACH LICENSE. ADDITIONAL DECALS
CAN BE PURCHASED AT $6.00 EACH. EVERY
COMPANY VEHICLE MUST DISPLAY A DECAL.
ANY INCOMPLETE APPLICATION RECEIVED WITHOUT
ALL THE ABOVE INFORMATION WILL BE RETURNED AND CONSIDERED
INVALID.
NO WORK MAY BE STARTED UNTIL ALL REQUIREMENTS
ARE MET AND A VALID LICENSE ISSUED. VIOLATORS ARE SUBJECT
TO A FINE AND PROSECUTION.
MASTERS LICENSE
-
Applicant must have had at least 11-1/2 years continuous
full-time working experience in electrical construction,
including:
-
Residential
-
Commercial
-
Industrial
-
Applicant must be a competent electrician and qualified
to do electrical contracting and installation of electrical
wiring of all types.

Applicant must be able to comply with the requirements
and provisions of the current issue of the National
Electrical Code, the utility companies having jurisdiction,
and have knowledge of the provisions of the Resolution for
Licensing & Regulation of Master and Special Electricians.

Applicant must supply detailed letters showing experience
in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical
construction from previous employers on employer letterhead
signed and notarized. Such letters should detail the
applicant’s duties on each job performed.

Applicant must take a written examination of which a mark
of 70% is required before issuance of license.

Applicant must be familiar and comply with the New York
State Compensation Law, and all other Putnam County
insurance requirements.

SPECIAL ELECTRICIANS
-
Special electricians are those employed in specific plant
or building.

Applicant must have had at least 7-1/2 years experience
in electrical wiring including residential, commercial and
industrial work.

Applicant must take a written examination of which a mark
of 70% is required before issuance of license.

Fee:
$150.00 application fee (to be paid prior to taking test) and
$501.00 license fee (to be paid when license is issued) check or
money order payable to Putnam County Commissioner of Finance

all operations and locations involved in the contract, including
the following coverage’s:

Non-Owned Automobiles
Unless specifically required, each policy
shall provide limits of not less than
$1,000,000.00 Combined Single Limits.
STANDARD INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS AND
INDEMNIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
All policies and certificates of insurance of
the contractor shall contain the following clauses:
- Putnam County is named as an additional insured and as
Certificate Holder. Insurers shall have no right of
recovery or subrogation against the County of Putnam
(including its agents and agencies), it being the intention
of the parties that for any and all losses covered by the
above described insurance.
- The Clause “other insurance provisions” in a policy in
which the County of Putnam is named as an additional
insured, shall not apply to the County of Putnam.
- The insurance companies issuing the policy or policies
shall have no recourse against the County of Putnam
(including its agents or agencies) for payment of any
premiums or for assessments under any form of policy.
Any and all deductibles in the above described insurance
policies shall be assumed by and be for the account of, and
at the risk of the contractor.
