OSR DIRECTOR ATTENDS 2017 LOBBY DAY IN ALBANY, NY

The Director of the Office for Senior Resources, Patricia Sheehy, is in Albany, NY today (February 7, 2017) to advocate for our Seniors and for all Older New Yorkers. The Aging Services Network will share their State budget positions with Legislators and other decision makers putting forth a $177 million plan for the future of New York to modernize the Aging Services Network. The proposed plan seeks to ensure that the increasing number of older New Yorkers receive the services they need to remain independent.

The mission of the Association on Aging (AoA) is to support and advocate for New York’s 59 mostly county-based Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and work collaboratively with a network of organizations that exist to promote independence, preserve dignity and provide support for residents of New York State as they age. Director Sheehy is the Chair of the Association on Aging (AoA) Legislative Committee. Today, she is meeting with NYS Senator Sue Serino , Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Aging, and newly elected NYS Assemblyman Kevin Byrne, who is a member of the Committee on Aging, to highlight the need for the funding necessary for our Senior population.
